Chinese Admiral Nurse service expands to cover the whole of the UK
Following the success of the Chinese Admiral Nurse Clinic Project in London (that we reported on here: https://journalofdementiacare.co.uk/admiral-nurse-for-chinese-community and here: https://journalofdementiacare.co.uk/two-years-chinese-admiral-nurse) the service has now expanded to offer support to Chinese and South East Asian families across the UK.
Kay Cheung, Chinese Communities Admiral Nurse, says:
“Dementia can carry significant stigma and taboo within some Chinese and South-East Asian communities. This can make families reluctant to seek support, leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment and poorer health outcomes. Through this service, we aim to help families living with dementia understand that there is a life beyond diagnosis and that there is no shame in seeking help.”
Free online or telephone appointments – that can be delivered in English, Cantonese or Mandarin – with a Chinese Communities Admiral Nurse can be booked here: https://www.dementiauk.org/information-and-support/how-we-can-support-you/admiral-nurse-clinics/chinese-clinic/
