Dementia UK launch Promise to Care
Dementia UK has launched a campaign entitled ‘Promise to Care’.
The campaign is calling on MP’s to make a ‘Promise to Care’ and ensure that the upcoming Modern Service Framework for Frailty and Dementia and the work of the Casey Commission results in every person affected by dementia having:
- Specialist, coordinated dementia care.
- Proactive, personalised support from diagnosis through to end of life.
- Dedicated support for families and unpaid carers.
The campaign is backed by recent survey results that showed only 9% of dementia carers have been offered support at an early stage of their loved one’s condition.
Dementia UK say:
“Successive governments have promised to reform social care for decades. But, we’re still waiting. Families affected by dementia are still waiting. It’s time to turn those promises into action and create a health and social care system that everyone affected by dementia can rely on.”
You can find out more about the campaign, including the option to contact your MP to ask them to make a Promise to Care, here: https://www.dementiauk.org/get-involved/campaigns/promise-to-care/
