A new system of Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) will replace the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) next year, so a short film has been produced showing how LPS will “seek to promote practice which aligns with human rights and the core principles and duties of the Care Act 2014”. Made by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), the film says LPS marks a significant shift in practice and changes the focus from “deprivation” to “protection” of liberty so as to help people achieve outcomes that matter to them.
