Guidance for Presenters

All presenters – Please keep the following in-mind when you are creating your presentation: 

Timing:  

• We need to keep to strict time limits due to the number of people presenting at UK Dementia Congress. For this reason we encourage all presenters to check the length of your presentation by going through it before you send it to us. Our session Chairs will need to keep everyone to time and your co-operation with this is much appreciated. 
• If you are a plenary speaker, you’ll be contacted personally with your allocated time. 
• If you are a parallel session speaker, you will have 12 minutes. Q&A will be offered either after your talk or when all session speakers have presented – your session chair will decide. 
• If you are a mini presentation speaker, you will have 3 minutes (1 minute per slide). For Q&A, the presenter and delegates can network afterwards. If you require support, please see below.  We have included this option to ensure inclusivity and to give as many opportunities for people to physically present their work.

If your presentation describes research, please focus on the results and recommendations. 

Accessibility for people with dementia: 

Please bear in mind that UK Dementia Congress is attended by a wide variety of people, including people living with dementia. Lived Experience: 

We encourage everyone presenting at UK Dementia Congress to incorporate the voice of lived experience whenever possible. If this can’t be in-person participation, we would encourage presenters to include short films and/or quotes from people with lived experience that relates to what you are presenting about. Please embed film(s) into your presentation – we cannot guarantee the WiFi connectivity at the venue and therefore films cannot be live streamed. 

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI): 

We encourage everyone presenting to be mindful of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles, and to actively demonstrate how you have incorporated these into what you are presenting. 

Resources: 

If you are able to signpost to any resources (especially those that are freely available) as part of your presentation, please do. Do also bring with you any printed literature that signposts delegates to resources – this will encourage further networking on the topic of your presentation. 

Deadline for finalising and submitting my presentation:

To ensure the smooth running of UK Dementia Congress, we require plenary/parallel session presenters to submit their PowerPoint presentations no later than 31st October and mini-presenters to submit their three slides no later than 1^st November. We regret we cannot accept changes to presentations after these dates and appreciate your understanding in this matter. 

How presentations will be stored and used by Dementia Community: 

All plenary/parallel session presentations will be stored on Dementia Community’s systems for sharing during the live sessions at this year’s UK Dementia Congress. These will also be available on our website after UK Dementia Congress to delegates who have completed their evaluation. 

All mini-presentations will be stored on Dementia Community’s systems, added into videos for sharing at UK Dementia Congress (to be shown on a rolling loop in the exhibition/catering areas during parallel session times and lunchtimes), and will be on Dementia Community’s website and/or Dementia Community’s YouTube channel. for the start of UK Dementia Congress. 

As UK Dementia Congress is a public event and photos/videos may be taken during the event, we advise all presenters to only include information on slides that they have permission to share publicly both live and online.
