York St John University have been changing lives through education since 1841. Originally founded as a teacher training college, York St John attained University status in 2006, and now includes a London Campus as well as our original York site. Launched in 2023, the Institute for Health and Care Improvement brings together academics from across the University to find solutions for the pressing issues facing health and social care today. Emotional Intelligence in Care, as part of the IHCI, focuses on supporting emotions at work in dementia care as the foundational route to achieving quality of life and quality of service. This service is led by David Sheard, Professor of Emotional Intelligence in Care who provides external consultancy, research, workshops, podcasts and educational opportunities.
