My name is Mandy Gregory, I’m 62 years old and have worked for Brunelcare for 7 1/2 years. I previously worked in retail for Boots chemist for 37 years, and moving into care was the best decision I ever made as it’s so rewarding.
Outside of work I enjoy reading and walking, and am overly passionate about my garden where I’m at my happiest.
I love being near water, and have been out on the seas sailing around Devon & Cornwall numerous times.
Summary
Through conversations with residents we noticed that many had had active lifestyles which included swimming, but had been unable to go as their dependency on physical support had increased in recent years. Our aim was to reintroduce swimming into their lives, empowering them to regain a sense of autonomy and joy associated with the activity of which they had so many positive memories. Benefits to these individuals were instantly recognisable: Happy memories resurfaced, pain and anxiety were reduced and sleep improved!
