Summary
The Royal Victoria Hospital Meeting Centre is a pioneering initiative integrating the internationally recognised Meeting Centre model into a hospital setting. This Centre offers psychosocial, person-centred support for people living with dementia and their families during hospital stays, aiming to reduce distress and improve wellbeing. The Centre also functions as a training spoke for healthcare students, creating a unique space where care and education converge. This presentation will share initial learning from the project, including evidence of its impact on patient experience, family engagement, and student development. We will also explore how co-production with people living with dementia, collaboration with NHS staff, and a commitment to inclusion and evaluation have underpinned the Centre’s development.
