About

Summary

Earlier this year Dementia Community, Meeting Centres Scotland and Age UK Salford and Trafford joined forces to bring create a Special Interest Group for individuals and organisations interested in or working on dementia in prisons. This Group is at an early stage of mapping out work, training and research happening on dementia within UK prisons. Initial areas of interest include:
• Dementia diagnostic tools for people in prisons.
• Support available for people in prisons and their families.
• Research and training available for staff working within prisons.
The group plan to share their work to date, provide examples of best practice and offer opportunities for a wider audience to contribute. At a wider level, founding group members will share their experience of creating a Special Interest Group with Dementia Community as a mechanism for connection, momentum and change.
