Why GPs have a bad reputation

GPs have been criticised for their failure to make the diagnosis of dementia that could open access to vital support services for carers. Steve Iliffe argues that GPs have the diagnostic skills, but many other factors get in the way. He makes specific proposals to improve training and audit services.
