Imagine the future of our dementia care community – Workshop 4

11.00 Tuesday 16 July

Sincere thanks to all who attended and contributed to the first two online Open Space meetings, convened by the Journal of Dementia Care and facilitated by Ladder to the Moon/Vibrant Communities.

Each session was a stimulating meeting of minds, and a wide variety of interests and pressing needs emerged. We now need to focus on action, starting with the question:

Are we a distinct alliance or group, and if so, what are we here to do?

For our future discussion we welcome all who want to be involved in focusing ideas and planning action, and we hope to identify new leaders in the field to take this forward.

The crucial and unique characteristic of Dementia Publishing, the Journal of Dementia Care and the UK Dementia Congress is that we stand outside all other organisations and interest groups. We are non-partisan and our aim has always been to bring together all the important stakeholders in the field: to be a catalyst and channel of two-way communication between researchers and practitioners, all carers and supporters, and people living with dementia themselves. Our future role must reflect this.

We would welcome your contributions to these developmental conversations. Our next Open Space session is on Tuesday 16 July
