Summary
The focus of the presentation will be the sharing of training and outcomes using the Enriched Model of Dementia care within an inpatient facility. The staff group as part of a quality improvement review identified that having a shared approach to care would benefit those living with dementia and the staff group alike. It was felt having a framework to look at supporting individuals to recognise them as individuals first was key to engaging them in an often-unfamiliar environment when they are unwell from a mental health perspective.
The leadership of group is a multi-professional group of clinicals who have specialised in the working in dementia care. The development of the training, alongside outcomes and planned developments of the model into practice will be shared within the presentation.
