About

Summary

An exploration of findings from a study across 3 London boroughs of the experience of people from the African-Caribbean community and the staff of local memory services on access to culturally appropriate services and support. The focus is on the quality of experience and the narratives people articulate about access to care. With a focus group approach the researchers share their findings of a deep dive into the personal concerns of staff providing services on their perceptions of barriers to good practice and ideas about ‘what the job is’ when it comes to serving diverse communities. The workshop will engage with participants to explore how the insights from this research and the experience of the workshop participants can be used to craft recommendations for ‘what good looks (and feels) like’ in designing services and support for people in the African-Caribbean community living with dementia.
