About

Summary

Effectively transferring knowledge from care home research into sustainable practice change has been identified as challenging. However, research outputs often take a one-size fits all approach to implementation guidance. Namaste care is an approach that is designed to improve quality of life for residents living with advanced dementia, (Simard, 2021)
Using four care homes from the same organisation as case studies, this presentation will examine the contrasting experiences and decision-making in each home in their journey to successful implementation of Namaste Care. It will identify the significant variation and flexibility required in the implementation process, support provided and the intervention itself in order to ensure effective response to the real-world challenges care homes experience. Drawing on these findings, it will make recommendations for what is required from research to aid effective implementation of interventions across a diverse care home sector.
