Summary
The Live and Jive project aimed to provide live and personalised music for people living with dementia in an acute hospital. Due to the complex medical needs of people in hospital, digital technology was used to ensure inclusivity of people too unwell to attend the event in person by live streaming the event to wards and side rooms. Benefits were reported by people living with dementia, their family members, staff, volunteers and the musicians involved. Eight emergent themes were identified which included several improvements in biopsychosocial aspects of health. The project enabled people living with dementia in hospitals to strengthen their links with professionals and their family members by sharing in a positive experience during their time in hospital.
