UK Government publish Men’s Health Strategy for England

The UK Government has published ‘Men’s health: a strategic vision for England’.

The strategy aims to tackle men’s mental health challenges, improve physical health and reduce inequalities. It is the first strategy focusing solely on men and follows a call for evidence that we reported on here: https://journalofdementiacare.co.uk/uk-government-launches-call-for-evidence-to-inform-mens-health-strategy-for-england

Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, says:

“Our strategy is designed to encourage men to take charge of their physical health and mental wellbeing. First, by expanding access to support services; second, by helping them to take better care of themselves; and third, by ensuring stigma is challenged and every man feels empowered to reach out for help.”

The strategy references dementia in relation to men over 75 being the fastest growing population group in the UK, the increasing number of men living with dementia, and how vascular dementia affects more men than women.
