Dementia UK has teamed up with the Nationwide Building Society to provide Admiral Nurse clinics within some branches of the Nationwide.
It is expected that over the next three years at least 100,000 people living with dementia and their carers will benefit from attending one of these dementia clinics, which will provide a free, 45-minute appointment with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse.
Peter Middleton, who lives with dementia, has spoken to the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ced119l2nnyo about this initiative and says:
“People [with dementia] may get overwhelmed in a bank because of the noise and the amount of information being given to them. I’ve been working as part of a steering group with Santander for a while and it’s great to see Dementia UK and Nationwide doing this as well. I can’t see any drawbacks.”
Initial clinic appointment dates and locations (within the pilot area of Wiltshire) are available to book here: https://www.dementiauk.org/information-and-support/how-we-can-support-you/admiral-nurse-clinics/nationwide/. More clinic dates and times in other locations will be added to this webpage in due course.
