Alzheimer’s Research UK call on the government to set up pilot trials for dementia treatments

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) are calling on the government to set up pilot trials for dementia treatments.

Pilot trials would provide new medicines through selected NHS clinics to understand how these medicines could be used in practice whilst gathering evidence on their use.

ARUK point out that other areas of medicine, including oncology and cardiology, use pilot testing (described as managed access) to introduce new or complex therapies to patients while gathering evidence about how they work in practice.
