Board game launched to help teach children about dementia
The Dementia Explorer Game has been launched by The Lewy Body Society.
Created by a team led by Dr Clarissa Giebel, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool’s Institute of Population Health – in collaboration with The Lewy Body Society – it follows on from Dr Giebel’s work developing the Dementia Inequalities Game (that we reported on here: https://journalofdementiacare.co.uk/dementia-board-game).
The Dementia Explorer Game is for children aged 7-11 and aims to raise awareness of dementia by encouraging understanding and compassion from childhood onwards.
Dr Giebel says of the game:
“By engaging children at an early age, we can create opportunities to talk openly, ask questions, and start breaking down barriers. The Dementia Explorer Game gives children a fun, interactive way to learn more about dementia, while also empowering them to think about how they can support people living with the condition.”
