Christmas advice

“Put decorations up gradually” is part of new advice from Alzheimer’s Society on supporting people with dementia at Christmas.  It is top of the list in a blog on the Society’s website which offers “8 ways to support somebody with dementia at Christmas”.  Among the other points are “keep it simple and familiar” and “create a quiet area”.  Talking about Christmas Day, Society Talking Point member Jaymor says: “We kept it just as a normal day.  Decorations, Christmassy food and goodies confused my husband and made him more anxious than he already was.  It was just too much for both of us.  So, for us there was no preparation.” www.alzheimers.org.uk/blog.
