Cross-Government Unpaid Carers Action Plan published
The UK Government has published an Unpaid Carers Action Plan.
The plan is aimed at improving the lives of unpaid carers in England and is centred around 3 themes – recognise, refer and reach – which aims to ensure unpaid carers are identified, supported and able to balance their responsibilities with their own lives.
The plan spans the work of four government departments: Health and Social Care, Business and Trade, Education and Work and Pensions.
Practical steps that are part of the plan include:
- A MyCarer section in the NHS App
- A Carer Passport
- Changes to Carer’s Allowance
- A Carers Charter setting out carers’ rights and entitlements
- A dedicated section on gov.uk for unpaid carers
