Kunstmuseum Den Haag gallery in Holland has started to run Art Connection tours for people with dementia and their carers.
These tours aim to spark the senses of people with dementia, creating a more enriching gallery experience.
On the first tour, residents from a care home and their carers looked at four artworks. The museum guide used a spinning top to demonstrate how dots of colour blend in front of the eye, introduced palettes of colour, shared colouring-in sheets and provided a fragrant carpet of lavender.
The tours began running in June 2024 and are scheduled for the last Friday afternoon of every month.
