Free Sculpture Trail opening in West Yorkshire for Dementia Action Week 2026

A free sculpture trail, created in collaboration with dementia groups around Calderdale, West Yorkshire, is opening on Monday 18 May 2026 to coincide with Dementia Action Week.

The trail, featuring a series of sculptures for visitors of all ages to enjoy, has been created by Natasha Brown, an artist based at Dean Clough and a degree student with The Open University at Calderdale College.

Natasha says:

“As part of my studies, I have been developing an art project focused on dementia awareness and community connection. During this time, I became a Dementia Friend and volunteer at the Brightside Dementia Art Club. Inspired by this experience, I have created a free Community Dementia Sculpture Trail designed to raise awareness of dementia in a positive, creative, and engaging way.

The project has been self-funded, and I have worked with several dementia groups across Calderdale, delivering creative workshops where participants helped produce artwork that has been incorporated into the sculptures featured in the trail.”

The trail runs until 30 May 2026. Pick up your trail map at Spill Coffee House, F Mill Courtyard, HX3 5AX. Find out more here: https://www.deanclough.com/events/dementia-sculpture-trail/ or you can email Natasha: natashaelizabethbrownart@gmail.com
