Listen Out Loud

Arts charity Living Words is running CPD-accredited foundation courses for professional carers and nursing staff.  The charity’s Listen Out Loud Foundation Course is an online course designed to teach skills in effective communication with people with dementia using the Listen Out Loud methodology.  There are six 90-minute sessions designed to fit into care staff’s busy schedules and two further rounds of the training will run shortly, one starting in late April and the other in May, although exact dates are to be announced.  According to Living Words, the Listen Out Loud method can be used to enhance communication and strengthen relationships with all residents with dementia, including those who have lost language skills.  The charity said that the course embeds learning through interactive sessions and practice, and that follow-up support would be provided throughout the year.  Course tutors are Susanna Howard and Shazea Quraishi.  Full details at www.livingwords.org.uk.
