Applications open for scholarships that promote the benefits of gardening

The National Garden Scheme and The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN) are inviting applications for NGS Elsie Wagg (Innovation) Scholarships.

NGS Elsie Wagg (Innovation) Scholarships, which are awarded to nurses, aim to show how gardening and garden visiting can promote physical, mental and emotional health. The application process is open to all nurses working in any community setting, including adult social care. Projects can be based in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

The five successful project leaders will receive a year-long programme of individual and group support from the QICN, as well as funding of up to £5000 to implement their project.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 2 November 2025. Applications will be assessed during November and December with successful projects beginning in early 2026.
