Free training resource, ‘Dementia Compass’, launched

HP Homecare has launched a free dementia training resource called ‘Dementia Compass’.

‘Dementia Compass’ is designed to give carers, families and providers practical strategies for supporting people with dementia at home. It’s been developed by HP’s nursing and care team, and combines evidence-based guidance with real-world learning, covering areas such as communication, recognising behaviour as communication, and creating safer, calmer home environments.

The Dementia Compass content is in six interactive modules and includes a visual ‘sensory shift’ simulation to help participants understand how dementia can alter perception.

The resource is dedicated to the memory of a couple HP Homecare supported for over 12 years, from early diagnosis through to end of life. Their life at home inspired the approach and values that underpin the training.

Michele Jogee, Director of Homecare at HP, says:

“Great dementia care requires more than checklists. It needs empathy, confidence, and the ability to see the world through another’s eyes. Dementia Compass distils what our team has learned over decades of practice, and we’re proud to share it freely.”
