BBC ‘Caring Matters’ shines a spotlight on unpaid carers
The BBC has curated seven days of content across their TV, Radio, iPlayer, Sounds and Online platforms to shine a spotlight on unpaid carers.
‘Caring Matters’, which ran from Saturday 23rd May until Saturday 30 May 2026, shared different perspectives on caring and included advice from experts, information on navigating support, and reflections from people with lived experience of caring. The week aimed to highlight the realities of being an unpaid carer as well as championing what society can do to better recognise, understand and support unpaid carers.
Included in the Caring Matters week was the launch of a new iPlayer and BBC One series ‘Natalie Cassidy: Caring Together’ which features actress Natalie Cassidy, a former carer to her dad, going to college to do a Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
