National Records of Scotland has published a new report on dementia deaths in 2023.
The latest figures show there were:
- 6,491 deaths in 2023 – an increase of 3% on the previous year.
- Dementia continues to be one of the leading causes of death in Scotland.
- Two-thirds of dementia deaths were women (66%).
