Series of dementia education training films released

Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board has collaborated with the University of Gloucestershire and eHealth Digital Media to create a series of free-to-access training films.

The films capture the experiences of people living in care homes and extra care sheltered housing settings across Gloucestershire, alongside the perspectives of staff, family members and friends, and include best practice examples. The aim of the films is to raise awareness and improve quality of dementia care both locally and nationally.

Each film is a stand-alone resource and they can be viewed in any order, although watching the introductory film first is recommended. The titles are:

  • Introducing a new series of training films for dementia carers
  • Does this person have dementia?
  • Family and friends
  • What do I say?
  • What do I do?
  • Responding to distress
  • Supporting eating and drinking
  • Supporting complexities
  • Meaningful engagement
  • Resilience for carers
