English and Spanish care provider collaboration produces paper on relationship centred care in care homes

Reach by Nightingale Hammerson (that we reported on here: https://journalofdementiacare.co.uk/nightingale-hammerson-launch-free-digital-platform-to-support-people-living-at-home) has collaborated with Macrosad, a care provider in Spain, to publish a paper entitled ‘Relationship centred care in care homes: Concept and key steps to its implementation’.

The paper brings together practical experiences from Nightingale Hammerson and Macrosad. The authors say:

“Moving into a care home can be a stressful experience for the new resident and relatives but also presents its challenges to the professionals involved in the care of the person. The Relationship Centred Care approach can support the creation of an environment of belonging between all the people involved in the care provision and improve the Residents’ quality of life.

We invite all social care leaders, professionals, volunteers and service users to read the article and challenge current practices, in order to create a more cohesive environment within the care home communities.”
