Language and heritage

A Language and Heritage section has been launched as part of the Living with Dementia Toolkit, which is a freely available website offering resources such as films and links to give people with dementia hope, inspire them through real-life experiences, and suggest ideas to help them live well. The new section is premised on the idea that first languages such are important, especially when dementia can make it hard to operate in a second language such as English. There are a discussion of how Welsh language and heritage can help people live with dementia, two perspectives on dementia in South Asian language groups, and a talk from museum officer Elen about writing a Welsh language book on dementia care. The Living with Dementia Toolkit was born from the IDEAL research programme, led by Exeter University, and is the result of a collaboration between people with dementia, carers and researchers.
