New online Shared Reading group opens for people with dementia

Rachel Niblock, former DEEP co-ordinator, has begun a new online Shared Reading group for people with dementia.

Participants should have a love of books and poetry. This is not an academic or book club type experience, but instead is about being in the moment with the words of a book or poem. There isn’t any reading in-between sessions and reading aloud during the sessions is optional. The intention is to discuss how words make participants feel and what thoughts they spark.

The sessions are on Zoom, in groups of 10 people, and they last between 60 to 75 minutes.

Rachel says:

“I am particularly keen to welcome people who may find reading difficult but have a love of literature.”
