Palliative and End-of-Life Care Commission publish first report

The Palliative and End-of-Life Care Commission has published its first report, entitled ‘Palliative Care and End-of-Life Care – Opportunities for England (Volume 1)’.

The report finds that access to high-quality palliative care is unevenly provided across the UK, and makes the case that everyone who has palliative care needs should be able to access well-resourced community services.

The report recommends the development of a national strategy for palliative and end-of-life care, as well as other recommendations which include improvements to community-based rapid response services, better support for carers and families, education and training for all health and social care staff, and improvements in understanding around palliative care, hospices and dying.
