Success for intergenerational podcasting pilot
The Together Project and Creative Engagement Services has successfully completed a grassroots intergenerational pilot project entitled ‘Haringey Intergenerational Podcast’.
The pilot project brought together young people aged 14–18 from Bruce Grove Youth Space and older people aged 72–85 from the local Haringey community to connect through the creation of podcasts.
The podcast episodes feature shared stories and connections between the older and younger people, and the evaluation results are impressive:
- 100% of young people say they really enjoyed the project
- 100% of older participants wanted to engage with younger generations again
- 100% of older participants agreed/strongly agreed the experience made them feel more connected to their community
- Young people reported increased confidence, better listening skills, and a deeper understanding of older people’s lives
- Several participants from both age groups asked to continue the podcasting journey beyond the pilot
