Dementia support hub

A “one stop shop” dementia support hub in West Sussex is having a markedly positive impact on quality of life and wellbeing for people with dementia and their carers.  An evaluation of Sage House by the University of Chichester suggests that the facility, run by local charity Dementia Support, provides a “viable solution” to living well with dementia.  It provides a range of services under one roof, such as day breaks, support groups and personal care services, as well as a wayfinding service and a community café.  All respondents to the research agreed that the integrated approach was helpful and that they would recommend Sage House to family and friends.  Psychologist Professor Antonina Pereira, who led the university team, said: “An integrated approach to dementia care, such as that provided by Sage House, is of paramount importance today, more than ever due to the multifaceted nature of the condition.”
