ARUK explore the future of dementia care with NHS England being dissolved

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) has documented how future dementia care may evolve following the announcement that NHS England is being dissolved. 

The functions of NHS England are set to be integrated into the work of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and ARUK have put together some overarching information alongside a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ to address some of the issues posed by NHS England being dissolved.

    Maxine Linnell, who lives with dementia, has provided an update on the Change.org petition https://www.change.org/p/stop-negative-and-inaccurate-dementia-publicity-show-the-hopeful-creative-possibilities she began with colleagues entitled: ‘Stop negative and inaccurate dementia publicity.   • Birthday treat

    Birthday treat: Military veterans charity Royal Star & Garter, which runs three care homes, held a tea party celebration for its 106th anniversary.  Residents joined in the celebrations, including Paddy (pictured) in the Solihull home.     A new blood test developed at Pittsburgh University may hold the key to diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease relatively inexpensively.  Results published in the journal Brain show that the test reliably detects a biomarker called “brain-derived tau”, using an antibody that selectively binds this protein found specifically in the blood of people with Alzheimer’s.  “At present, diagnosing…
