Dr Penny Dash’s review into patient safety in health and care has been published by the Department of Health and Social Care.
Entitled ‘Review of patient safety across the health and care landscape’ the report is broken down into ten main findings, five main conclusions and nine recommendations.
Relating to dementia, the report notes:
“In England, there are an estimated 826,000 people living with dementia, with an associated 62,000 deaths per year. Over 35% of those living with dementia are undiagnosed. Just 6% of eligible patients currently receive treatment.” (From Carnall Farrar. ‘Value in health: improving productivity, quality and prevention in the NHS.’ 2025 https://www.carnallfarrar.com/value-in-health-improving-productivity-quality-and-prevention-in-the-nhs/)
