Dementia choir write, compose and release song entitled ‘A new beginning’

The Sam Beckman Choir, a dementia choir in North London, has written, composed and professionally recorded an original song that they’ve released as a single entitled ‘A new beginning’.

The choir worked with music and healthcare practitioner Edmund Jeffrey for a year to create their song during their weekly music sessions. All of the choir members live with dementia and attend one of Jewish Care’s three specialist dementia day centres.

Choir member Ros says:

“It’s a lovely song. We have spent a long time working on it – weeks and weeks. I’m very impressed with how it’s turned out.”

Choir member Viv says:

“It has real feeling in it. We went over every single word and kept changing bits until it was perfect.”
