Report and blueprint published on ‘Carer Friendly Communities’
Carers UK has published a report and blueprint on ‘Carer Friendly Communities’.
The report includes data that suggests nearly half of the UK adult population – around 24.8 million people – have provided unpaid care to a family member, friend or neighbour at some point in their lives, with 11.6 million people currently in an unpaid caring role.
Many more statistics feature in the report, plus coverage of disparities between carers (including by gender and ethnicity), and a look at carer experiences across the different UK nations. One of the case studies is of a daughter who cared for her father with dementia and cancer.

The blueprint describes how to build carer friendly communities and includes guiding principles and a step-by-step plan as well as sections on how different sectors of society can become more carer friendly, including businesses and services, education and employment.
