Dementia Carers Count share film about carers experiences
Dementia Carers Count (DCC) has launched a film entitled ‘What’s it like to care for someone with dementia?’
The film explores experiences of looking after a partner (David caring for his wife Margaret) or parent (Sarah caring for her mum Elaine). It’s been made using actors to avoid filming anyone who can’t give informed consent, with scripts that are based on direct quotes from carers and acting informed by what carers have told DCC about their experiences and emotions.
Frances Lawrence, CEO of Dementia Carers Count, says:
“Our short film shares what it can be like to care for someone with dementia, day in and day out.
Everyone’s experience of caring is unique and everyone will experience different highs and lows. But from the moment you wake up, to when your head hits the pillow, you’re likely to have moments of frustration and moments of connection. Whatever your experience, you don’t have to face all this alone.”
