Queen at Sea now in UK Cinemas
Queen at Sea is now in UK Cinemas, launching today, 18 September 2026.
The film explores a couple’s relationship – and the issue of sexual consent – when one partner has advancing dementia. It also addresses how far family members and the state should be involved in matters of consent.
The film stars Tom Courtenay and Anna Calder-Marshall as husband and wife Martin and Lesley, with Lesley’s daughter, Amanda, played by Juliette Binoche.
Queen at Sea is written and directed by Lance Hammer, who says of the sexual consent theme of the film:
“We weren’t trying to convey a moral position. We were trying to say that this is a story with a lot of confusing parts, and we want you to experience it and come to your own conclusions.”
