Age UK publish report looking at inequalities faced by older women
Age UK has published a report entitled ‘Older Women in the UK – Building a picture of older women’s lives’ that looks at the inequalities women aged 50+ face.
The report covers issues including ageism, loneliness and digitisation, and highlights how being on a low income or from a minority group increases the inequalities faced.
Also documented is how older women are more likely than their male counterparts to have a disability and/or long-term physical health problems (including dementia, which is covered on page 13), to experience mental health issues and to be an unpaid family carer.
