Book documents how a husband and wife lived together in a care home for nine years

‘What would Maggie do?’, a book written by Michael Maslinski, has documented the nine years Michael lived with his wife Maggie in a care home.

Maggie lived with dementia that began in her mid-fifties, and when she needed to go into a care home Michael made the decision to go with her, living alongside her for nine years, four nights a week, while continuing to work as a business consultant.

During those nine years Michael oversaw every aspect of Maggie’s care and medical treatment, and by living inside the care system he observed more than most family members ever do.

The book has gathered praise from within social care, including from Professor Martin Green OBE, CEO or Care England, who says:

“This book is a must read for everybody working in residential care because it offers a unique perspective by somebody who lived in a care home to support his wife. The insights and experiences contained in this book are game-changing for the care sector.”
