CQC’s State of Care report highlights inequalities relating to dementia care
CQC has published their annual State of Care report.
Dementia is mentioned numerous times in relation to different settings that CQC inspect and has a specific section within the ‘Inequalities and concerns for specific groups of people’ chapter.
CQC say of dementia care:
“The number of people being diagnosed with dementia is increasing. However, staff in health and social care do not always understand the specific care needs of people with dementia and providers do not always have the knowledge of person-centred approaches and dementia-friendly environments.”
