Reports and resources on dementia in prisons published

Alzheimer Scotland’s Centre for Policy and Practice (ASCPP) has published reports and associated resources exploring the health and social care of people living with diagnosed or suspected dementia in prisons.

The ASCPP research into dementia and prisons highlights statistics showing that numbers of prisoners aged 60+ in UK prisons trebled between 2002-2016, and that 7.2% of those aged 50+ in prison had dementia, a much higher number than is seen in the general population of this age.

The ASCPP study into dementia in prisons has created a dedicated website to share the research that’s been undertaken, recommendations and resources, as well as their final reports. You can access the website here: https://dementiainprisons.com
