‘Dementia, you are not alone’ has been published.
Written by Michael Booth, this book encompasses Michael’s experiences as a person living with young onset Alzheimer’s disease and a former carer to his mum who had the same condition. Michael’s mum was diagnosed aged 55, and just a few months before she died in 2020 Michael himself was diagnosed aged 46.
Michael, who is a Young Dementia Network steering group member, started to research and write his book to help him come to terms with his diagnosis and keep his brain active. He says:
“If the book helps just one person, either someone with dementia or their carer, to accept the condition and live the best they can, then as far as I’m concerned it has done its job.”
