Guide to good practice when employing personal assistants published

Think Local, Act Personal (TLAP) has published a new resource entitled: ‘Personal Assistant Employment Status: A Guide to Support Good Practice’.

TLAP say:

“People drawing on care and support should be able to live their lives their way – with choice, control and flexibility at the heart of their arrangements. Personal Assistants and other flexible models – such as micro-providers – play a vital role in making that possible. But people are often uncertain about how employment status principles apply in the context of care and support. This can create avoidable legal and financial risk and leave people unsure whether their arrangements are set up correctly.”

The guide includes a case study of a person living with dementia.
