Research details how to thrive in residential care

My Home Life England (part of City St George’s, University of London), in conjunction with the Hallmark Foundation, has published ‘Thriving in residential care: The voices of older people, families and care teams’.

This report follows a qualitative research study on older people’s experiences of living in residential care. Researchers spoke to older people living in care homes, as well as families and care teams across the UK, and identified both benefits and challenges to living in a care home.

The report documents six ways that older people can thrive in a care home, if the conditions are right, highlighting the importance of relationships, activity, inclusivity, security, dignity and health.
