Reimagine dementia
People affected by dementia are joining forces across the globe in a campaign for change called “Let’s Reimagine”, launched by the pressure group Reimagining Dementia: A Creative Coalition for Justice.
It aims to challenge the “biomedical and institutional approaches” to dementia policy and practice, which the international coalition says lead to fear, stigma and hopelessness.
Comprising people with dementia, carers and dementia activists, the coalition says it shares a vision of care and support promoting “inclusion, relationships, creativity, joy and the possibility of growth for everyone impacted by dementia.”
A campaign launch event on 27 January drew together 100 members and friends from around the world and was captured on a video now available on the Reimagining Dementia website, including an original song to mark the occasion. www.reimaginingdementia.com/campaign.
