A charity specialising in medical ID jewellery is working with the police to trace and support people with dementia who become lost. MedicAlert UK is launching a “Safe & Found” initiative, using an emergency helpline number engraved on the jewellery, and will initially partner Thames Valley Police to help them find out about anyone who goes missing. The charity will hold a copy of the Herbert Protocol Form containing a photo and relevant information about the person and will ensure that it is kept up to date. Information on the form will be shared with the police or other emergency professionals if they call the helpline. If a member of the public calls the helpline, MedicAlert will relay details to the police immediately.
