Framework to support veterans in care homes launched

A new website has launched to provide care home managers with insight into how to provide more comprehensive care and support for veterans by achieving Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status.  

The VFF project, which launched in October 2023, aims to tackle loneliness and isolation and deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes for the 25,000+ veterans living in care homes across England.  

Once signed up, this new framework provides care homes with resources and tips to assess and improve their offer for veterans, with the aim of completing VFF status. 

The VFF is a two-year collaboration between Armed Forces charities Royal Star & Garter, the Royal British Legion and the NHS Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA – an NHS flagship Armed Forces programme), with funding support from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
